SAFETY EQUIPMENT

It is a mandatory requirement that all passengers agree to wear all of the safety equipment provided. Although you may consider that some of your own clothing is adequate, this requirement will not be compromised.

This equipment also provides excellent wind and weather protection to ensure that customers remain warm and comfortable throughout the day. Jackets and trousers have quilted thermal liners that can be quickly fitted or removed at your discretion to ensure your comfort throughout the tour and all of the equipment is waterproof.

Nolan N102 Helmet

The helmets provided are the latest Nolan N102s featuring a “flip face” design which allows the wearer to raise the chinguard and visor portion of the helmet whilst not riding. This feature allows easy communication and drinking with the helmet on whilst not travelling on the motorcycle. This design is particularly comfortable and appealing to those not used to wearing helmets on a regular basis.

The helmets are manufactured from high density polystyrene wrapped in a polycarbonate  composite  shell for  maximum

Please refer to the Sizing Chart for details on your measurements that we require - this ensures the correct fitting of all items of safety equipment.

All of this equipment, from helmet to boots, has been extensively road tested by the company owners in all weather conditions over an extended period.

Equipment inspection and servicing

All items of safety equipment, particularly helmets, are rigorously inspected after every use to ensure integrity. Helmets are always handled and stored with care and any that exhibited damage to the composite shell would be replaced in accordance with the manufacturer’s advisory information.

Freshness and hygiene are one of our prime concerns and all safety equipment is thoroughly cleaned after every use and before being stowed in containers specifically manufactured for the safe storage of our equipment. Features that aid in this cleaning include removable, washable helmet liners and thermal liners in jackets and trousers.

The boom microphones employed in the helmet-mounted communications system feature replaceable foam microphone covers, which are issued new at the start of every tour. Fresh socks are also available to accommodate a snug fit of boots if required, and brand new nylon socks are also available for ladies free of charge.

safety.  Any reasonable impacts due to dropping or bumping other solid objects can compromise the integrity of the helmet, therefore care is required when handling the helmet and it is recommended that customers give their helmet to the riders when not in use.

These latest Nolan helmets are very light and safe, easily worn all day, and incorporate the following features:

  • Tinted half-visor, which acts just like a pair of sunglasses and is simply lowered externally over the regular clear visor as required
  • Regular clear visor offers UV protection
  • Anti-fog visor insert to prevent condensation formation in cooler weather. The visor can be left open a fraction in conjunction with the chin and top vents to aid ventilation as required
  • Removable, washable anti-microbial hypoallergenic liners
  • Velour chin strap padding
  • Neck roll and chin curtain to reduce wind noise

The helmets also feature a built-in AutoCom® voice-activated communications system, which allows continuous rider-to-pillion and bike-to-bike communication – i.e. everyone can talk to each other!

Wearing and handling a helmet

There are a few points worth noting for those unfamiliar with wearing a helmet:

  • Securing the helmet once it is on is achieved with an adjustable “double D ring” type strap under the chin. This will be checked prior to every departure for your safety.
  • The chin portion of the helmet must be fully down over the face and locked in position at all times whilst travelling – your rider will check this before every departure.
  • When the motorcycle is moving, the visor must remain down for your safety and comfort but it can be left open a fraction to aid in ventilation as necessary.
  • On removing your helmet it must only be placed on solid level surfaces right way up or immediately given to your rider for safe keeping. It must not be balanced precariously on the motorcycles due to the risk of falling or placed upside down on its shell as this will cause damage to the outer composite structure.
