ABOUT US
    The company owners and motorcycle riders are a father and son team, Steven and Martin Craig. Originally from the United Kingdom, they have lived in Germany, Hong Kong and New Zealand before arriving in Melbourne to call Australia home for the last ten years. Martin Craig Steven Craig The Owners Martin Craig Martin Craig spent 22 years in the British Army prior to moving to New Zealand in 1996 and then onto Australia in 2000. Since leaving the Army he worked in a commercial engineering role in New Zealand, followed by the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) in Melbourne. He now works as a Defence Contractor in a part time role. Martin loves to be outdoors and motorcycling fulfils his interest in travel and meeting people whilst enjoying the fresh air and freedom. Steven Craig Steven Craig studied engineering at university but opted for a career change, working in the service industry for a time followed by a career in the health industry. The establishment of this motorcycle tours business allowed Steven to merge his total passion for motorcycling with his desire to run his own business. Martin and Steven approach motorcycling professionally to ensure that it is a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience for both themselves and their customers.
Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia: one of the world's most liveable cities with a climate ideally suited to motorcycling all year round. Victoria's temperate climate, distinct seasons and cosmopolitan climate make this corner of the world one of the best places to live. The owners manage all aspects of the business themselves, from marketing and accounting to filming and photography. The ability to merge their passion for riding and meeting new people with their employment is very unique, which brings them a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment. This enthusiasm for their venture is immediately apparent to all of their customers through the professionalism of their operation, their attention to safety and the quality of the well organised tours.   Melbourne's population is approximately 3.8 million people and comprises 70% of the Victorian total of 5.2 million people - making Melbourne a culturally vibrant city and the state of Victoria a beautiful and peaceful country escape from the buzz of the city. For some it may be difficult to comprehend the sheer size of Australia. Victoria has a similar land area to the United Kingdom but is the smallest mainland state and has a fraction of the UK population (which is currently approximately 61 million people!). Australia's current national population is 21.7 million people largely located in urban areas and the state capital cities - producing dynamic centres with city sophistication and leaving enormous areas of pristine country just waiting to be explored. Australia has a wealth of excellent roads and coupled with the climate and wide open spaces, makes motorcycle touring a dream on BMW's flagship luxury touring motorcycles. The Company    
Licensing
Both motorcycle riders hold ‘Restricted Hire-Motorcycle’ licenses that are issued by the Victorian Taxi Directorate (VTD). These licenses are regularly re-issued subject to the following criteria being continually satisfied:
Both riders have extensive motorcycling and driving experience totalling a combined 45 years in various countries. Each rider is first aid qualified, and carry a first aid kit as a matter of routine should a customer require any care whilst not travelling on the motorcycles.
Vehicle Registration and Roadworthiness
Vicmoto's motorcycles are registered with the Victorian Taxi Directorate (VTD) and are issued with special license plates, known as S-plates, designating them as vehicles used for commercial hire purposes. The motorcycles are subjected to regular roadworthiness inspections to ensure they meet the high standards of the tour operators, and also the requirements specified for commercial hire vehicles.
All rental motorcycles supplied by Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours comply with all Australian legal registration and roadworthiness requirements.
Legal Liability
Vicmoto Motorcycle Tours has Public Liability insurance, which provides legal liability to third parties for personal injury and property damage with an indemnity of AU$10,000,000.
